Our story starts in Denver in 1986. That year, Jennifer Thero Long joined her mother, Dr. Cynthia Thero, and her brother, Chip Thero, at Cynthia's training company, The Source. Together they researched, designed and delivered corporate training programs for local and national clients such as Tele-Communications, Inc. (now Comcast). The work soon reached international clients through training partners in Edmonton, Canada; Johannesburg, South Africa; and Sydney, Australia.
Cynthia brought a background in adult education and psychology. Jennifer brought a background in theater and communications. Together they built an organizational coaching methodology that worked one-on-one with employees to develop and master new skills as part of their organization's learning.
Jennifer has led the current practice continuously since 2007. It operated as Management Possible® and became Drama-Free Workforce in 2023, built around Jennifer's OwnUp!® accountability methodology and her Amazon best-selling book, Own Up! How to Hold People Accountable Without All the Drama. Today Jennifer leads as founder and Master Coach, drawing on more than 35 years of experience, and Chip leads operations, marketing and technology as Managing Director.
Four decades on, we're still a family business that coaches at the scale of large organizations: from 150-person companies to 100,000-person enterprises, including Huntington Ingalls, Argonne National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory and others.
Most execution problems aren't people problems. They're ownership problems: unclear expectations, avoided conversations, handoffs nobody owns. Here's how we work on them, and what you can expect from us.
The people closest to the work usually see the risk first. We help leaders build the clarity and candor that let them say so, and the ownership to act on it.
You can't hold people accountable for expectations they never clearly had. We start there, before we talk about consequences.
Every program pairs learning with coaching and live practice on your real situations, because accountability is a skill built through repetition, not a lesson you sit through once.
We start with the most leveraged problem you're facing, not a mandatory full system. You can stop after any step, and you expand only when the first step earns it.
We do the heavy lifting, but results also depend on your side: access, time, data and follow-through. We'll tell you plainly when something on either side is getting in the way.
We take a baseline before we start and measure again after, so you see what changed in behaviors and conditions. Your team claims the win; we claim a well-supported contribution.
